tybo
Does anyone know if the episode on sharptails in MN aired on KHO yet? I was hoping to DVR it but forgot to set it up before I went out of town. I really wanted to see it, I guess I can look for repeats. I have been to the DNR blinds a few times in the past but have never had birds get close to me. Kind of a bummer, it seems pretty cool on videos I've seen. I hunted them a few years ago up by Roseau but couldn't close enough to them to get shots. Anyway, if anyone knows if it already aired please let me know. SledNeck
I like Kent and all, but KHO is probably the worst outdoors show on TV IMO. There are usually TONS of repeats, go to your sat. menu and do a search, all airing should pop up
tybo
I'm not a huge fan of the show either but someomne mentioned it to me a while ago and I was interested on when it was going to be on. I was just hoping someone on here may have known. I will look into and see when it's on.
fasternu
Enjoy it while it lasts. I saw a little blurb where KHO is done. It was sold to a different production company and apparently Hrbek didn't like things that were going on. He said he walked away from it and neither side parted on good terms. It was a little blurb somewhere in the StarTrib.
tybo
Well I checked and it looks like the show I wanted to see is on this Saturday. A friend of mine is involved with MN Sharptails that works on conservation and habitat for Sharpies. I will have the DVR set and watch it when I get back from Duck opener and grouse hunting this weekend.
fasternu
I just turned on FSN tonight to check the Twins score, and guess what? The sharptail episode you were looking for was on from 9:30 to 10 pm tonight. You had gotten my interest up so I had to watch it. Very interesting! Matt Breuer
Glad a few people have caught the show. tybo, it aired on Sunday for the first time, and re-runs are playing all week. I should have notified people, as I'm hoping a few upland hunters get the chance to see it and possibly help our cause. The show spotlights sharp-tailed grouse in MN. 123fish
I was flipping through the channels last evening and caught the show too. That dancing footage was pretty cool. We saw one doing that this spring along the road south of Chamberlain S.D. when we came back from Nebraska from turkey hunting. Took a little bit to figure out what the heck he was doing as we don't get to see that in southwest Mn. Good job getting your message across Matt. fishroger
WE get plenty of sharpies in western no. dak. Have flushed 40-50 birds at a time, only problem most times there 100 yd. ahead of us. They like to sit out in overgrown pastures, so they can see you coming. Sometimes you can jump them in the denser cover where the pheasants are a nail a few. The locals dont especially like them for table fare, its dark meat. Cooked one up with a pheasant and seemed tasty to me.
