Gordie
I use long grass, brush, reeds, I was told that catails are illeagle to use but I dont know that for sure.I have found fresh cuttings in road ditches from the cty, hwy, etc, and have used that as well. I like to use fast grass as my base then add in the reall stuff to mix it up. hope this helps

Superduty
I'm pretty sure it is illegal to transport cattails. It falls into the same category as transporting any aquatic vegetation on a boat or trailer.

5806
You're OK. Page 12 of the waterfowl regs:"It is illegal to transport most aquatic plants andzebra mussels in or on boats, trailers, or decoys in boats, when on public roads. However, waterfowl hunters may use emergent aquatic plants, such as cattails and bulrushes, cut above the waterline, for building blinds." dan z
I have done my boat with cattails before and they dont last very long, thats why use broom/foxtail now I have had to do some patch work here and there but that stuff holds up better, I have heard that the stuff you buy at the store is lighter if weight is an issue...
