A ghost in the Enchanted Forest

My next few weekends are full so had to go for a ride today, looking for some fall color and hopefully a moose. Mostly disappointed on both scores. Looks like the peak color is at least a week away, but there is a little out there.

Steve and I plan on hitting the Enchanted Forest as much as we can. He's gone until tomorrow and I won't be able to go until later, so swung by there today. A bit of color - some downed birch leaves and at least one maple nearby:

Had this eerie feeling like someone was watching me. Lo and behold, I caught the voyeur in one of my images:

Headed towards the shore and found the "Honeymoon Highway" starting to turn, but still a ways a way:

And the Forest Service was doing a controlled burn not too far from the Little Isabella River:

Was good to get out. One of these days I'll get my moose!

Nice collection Ken, the fall colors are coming fast. I am forever on the search for those moose. A few weekends ago, I found the bull I have been searching long and hard for on the Gunflint trail. It just happened to appear when I was walking my dogs and there was no camera in hand....

That "honeymoon trail" is coming along very nicely. Cool set of shots.

Speaking of moose, there was actually a bull spotted 25 miles from here the other day. This is the very SW part of the state. One wanders down here every couple years. There was a photo of it in our local paper. It was a long shot, but you could still see it's massive rack.

Amazing pictures!! We just drove through "honeymoon trail" yesterday and someone was having a wedding there off the road. Kind of a neat idea.

That wedding was the owner of Trestle Inn's daughter. What a beautiful day for a ceremony!

The fall colors are popping nicely in number four and five. The second to last image is very enticing, great use of the wide angle, and it's just a sweet looking piece of earth.
