Anyone can be rude!!

Recommended Posts

I was on Vermilion last Wednesday. It was beautiful and, because it was midweek and after Labor Day there was no one on the lake. So I decided to do my old milk run on Big Bay which is usually so crowded I have stopped doing it. There was not one musky boat anywhere in sight. So I pulled up to an island and started working along a bar. After a couple of minutes, here comes the boat from Musky Hunter, film crew, big shot star, the whole works. They cut right in front of me and started working the same structure. Not a boat anywhere in sight on one of the biggest lakes in the country and they couldn't find anywhere else to fish. I just fired up and drove away but I'm glad the magazine is out of business so I don't have to bother to cancel my subscription.......

That does suck BIG TIME and totally uncalled for, you can expect that in the metro but up there after labor day just rude like you said.

just a side note, it's Esox Angler that is no longer producing mags, Musky Hunter is still strong, so you might want to cancel the subscription anyway.

That's unfortunate. I don't think your the only one who's been cut off by the MH crew. wink You would think someone with a reputation to uphold would be able to set a better example than that. With all the sponsors and supporters stickers' up and down the sides of the boat, the guy should be positively representing the magazine and the brands funding it. It's hard to support one of the few remaining print pub's of musky fishing when they pull this kind of crud. Especially on a lake like the big V.

Captain Quicksteel, here is Saric's reply:

"I can say with 100% certainty that I was on Vermilion last wednesday and I didn't cut anyone off. There are a couple islands on Vermilion where you could be fishing one side and have no idea there was another boat fishing the other side of the island. That actually happened to me once, and when I saw the boat I left the spot. It wasn't intentional, it just happens. For me anyhow, the bite wasn't great, and there were no specific spots that were holding fish, so I just fished my milk route on Big Bay wherever there was an open spot. Of course if it was after dark and someone didn't have their lights on (like a lot of boats seem to do out there)I may not have seen them. However, I did have my lights on at all time."

It sounds to me like the two of you weren't seeing the same thing, which often happens, or each of you have different definitions of what 'cut me off' or 'too close' means. Just goes to show there are two sides to every story. If you really were offended and felt he was wrong, maybe you could call him?

It looked like Saric and I meant Musky Hunter. The only thing I had wrong was who was no longer publishing. I just drove away. I've had a few episodes like this in the past, mainly with tournament guys who seem to think they own the water. I'm not out there for stress and conflict, I get enough of that at work so I just turned and drove away. I didn't drive right up to him and have words with him. If he wants to defend himself, he can come on this thread. That said, if I'm wrong, I truly apologize. I don't know the guy and have nothing against him and don't want to cause trouble if he doesn't act this way.

Well guys, what did you think Saric was going to say? They were definately out there on Wednesday evening. I guess if you are used to fishing on a crowded lake, you might have a much different view of what constitutes cutting somebody off. I happen to know the captain and if he said he was cut off, I tend to believe he was infact, cut off.

There couldn't have been more than 10 boats on the east end muskie fishing that day. Hard to believe that anyone had to cut anyone off to find a place to fish. Despite what Mr saric had to say, I found the action pretty good that evening. I had the pleasure of guiding Ron Shara that night and we moved about 7 or 8 fish. Four of them were in the upper 40's to low 50's.

Did you read the above posts before you responded? I read the thing ten times now and have no idea what you are what you are referring to.

Good...I was worried I had missed something...didn't make any sense to me either!
