A model 1894 Winchester 30WCF 30-30 cal. A friend of mine died and his family is looking at selling some of his guns. The money will be given away in his name, but they are not sure what to ask for the gun. The gun is in working order and in good/ok shape. Thanks for the help.

your best bet it to clean it up or have someone do it and hold on to it for a keep sake. tho u think it may take up room it really doesn't. store it in the attic or whatever and pass it down to the next generation of kids. but if u do decide to sell it u have a few options. u can bring it to the pawn shop or ask how much they will buy it from u at retail stores such [PoorWordUsage] gander mtn, scheels, bass proshops, cabelas, and so forth and go with the one who give u the most money.

My grandpa gave me the same gun a few years back. I personally would never sell the gun being that it was my grandpas but was just curious one day about what it was worth and looked on gunbroker and they had quite a few guns of that model and most of them were between 300 and 400 dollars more or less depending on what condition they were in.

thats too bad your buddy passed. however, why not keep the gun as a keepsake, like smalltown mentioned. if the family is looking at donating money from the guns collected, make a reasonable offer to the family. then you'll have a token of your buddy for years to come, and the family will feel dignified in both knowing his friend got the gun, and someone recieved a money contribution because of it.

Need more info. When was it made? Pre-1900? Rifle or carbine? Octagon or round barrel? Half,3/4, or full magazine? Rifle buttplate or shotgun buttplate? If you can provide the serial number I can tell you what year it was made. If it was made late 1800's or early 1900's and has a decent bore and no major damage and original sights, it is worth more than three or four hundred. Locate a dealer who specializes in winchesters to get an idea of it's worth. I have two that I paid around $1500 apiece for several years ago.

I already kept some of the guns from him and they are keeping some other guns for different people, but he had a lot of them and they were only willing to give one or two to each person. I got first pick and took the ones I wanted. It is a rifle with rifle buttplate and round barrel. Its a lever action. Yes it has original sights. The serial # is 337076. As far a the year it only says model 1894 Winchester trade mark. The money from this gun is going to the Perham library, so I'm not really looking for the highest dollar.

My info from Winchester indicates your gun was made in 1905. In your original post I think you said it was in pretty nice shape? Rifles in 30-30 don't usually bring as much money as the other calibers, so I would guess $1000-$1200. Depends on the condition. I'm not sure what the economy has done to values, It might be worth less than it would have a few years ago.
