Cicada
This little fellow is hanging around my folks' place. Mom took this picture with an inexpensive HP camera. I cropped and sharpened it a bit. We think this is a partial albino. Haven't had much tome to post or comment since I lost my job, but I have checked out the great submissions in this forum from time to time. Steve Foss
Very cool find. Borealhunter will be the expert on this one, but this may not be partial albinism, but leucism. Full albinism is characterized by the absence of the pigment melanin, and albinos have pink eyes. Leucism can result in the loss of all pigmentation in skin or feathers, but leucistic birds retain their normal eye color. In the end, which one it is won't matter except to ornithologists, I suspect. It's just an interesting and cool condition to see. Thanks for sharing the find with us.
