Hand Held GPS???

I know I have seen posts on hand held GPS's in the past, so I apoligize for this one. I just have a specific question. Which unit should I buy for MY personal needs as a fisherman and a hunter?

I do alot of open water fishing and alot of hard water fishing, so I need something that is chip compatable. I also want something that would work well for hunting out west. I will be going to Colorado elk hunting this fall, and to western South Dakota in the next couple years for antelope. I will be hunting in areas that I am not too familiar with, and I just want the added security, and the ability to scout an area before we head out. I don't really want to spend more that $500, and I've had my eye on the Lowrance hunt c model. Thanks in advance for any advise!

I have the Lowrance H2O. I also bought the mapping software to make maps for specific areas. Works real well for hunting, although I don't hunt out west. Total cost was, I think, around 350-400.

The previous threads that you've read gave you the same answers you'll get here. It's up to you. Each has its weak and strong points and for each person those will vary.

How can anyone other than you decide what's best for you?

I just bought a Lowrance Expedition c I am still tring to figure out how it works. So far so good

I have the Lowrance I hunt.It works very good, except the way point markers are to big, other wise it does a good job

I've done a little more research and I'm leaning towards the expedition c. It costs around $300. The unfortunate thing is that I would need to buy a lake chip ($100) and a seperate chip for out west hunting (another $100). What to do what to do?

The H20 is a great unit, until it fills with water! Had it for two years and put it in the pocket of my waders duck hunting. I did call they replaced it for $100.00. So much for water proof!

Still like it though just take better care of it.

I would get the Hunt as well. I have the H2Oc and love it.

Last weekend I tried my expedition c with the Lakemaster Minnesota chip. I was suprised at how nice it works, takes a bit of time to figure out how to use it though. if money is no object the hunt model would be the ticket.

go ith color which ever unit you get, I have a H2o b&w, my son has the colored version. Like his better.
