WyoChris
I'm a little confused on what type of colored lures/jigs I should use. I have heard two different strategies:- When fishing stained water, use darker colored lures because they blend in betteror- When fishing stained water, use lighter/shiny because they stand out better in the dark water.and the vice-versa for clear water.... what do you all think? How should I decide what color I should use? Thanks.

PerchJerker
I have always heard. fish bright colors in dark water and fish dark colors in clear water. I think that is a good rule of thumb ---- a good starting point. The only thing I would change is to say dark or natural or reflective colors in clear water. Just remember that it's a starting point, don't be afraid to experiment and mix it up if you're not getting bites.
Sandmannd
I've used dark colors in stained water (for example the sippi last weekend) and had luck with them. Actually, Evert's said black or purple was the color of choice in that water. We also had luck with your normal bright colors. Name of the game is experiment and find out what's working that day.
