grizwald
I have just moved to the St Paul area by the State Fair and Como Park and would like to find Vet in the area for my Choclate Lab. Does anybody have any good recommendations in the area? Thanks --
setterguy
I have been to approximatley 10 vets in the last 5 years and have finally found one that I absolutely love, Stillwater Vet. I know its not right in your backyard but its even farther for me and to me its worth every mile. They have 3-4 young enthusiastic vets there that are familiar with hunting dogs and the needs that they have. Not once in my 20+ visits have they ever even put the dog on the table, they come down to the dog instead of making them more nervous than they already are. I can tell that they truely care about the animals and to me that makes all the difference.
LABS4ME
Again, not right in your area but Dr. Fran Smith of Smith Veterinary Services in Burnsville (952.736.8278) is one of my top picks. She breeds, hunts and trials Labs and is very highly regarded nation wide on labs. She is on the board of OFA, is the states only small animal reproductive vet, and has written numerous papers on various subjects ranging from diseases to breeding. I use her for all my specialty veternary needs. For my day to day needs I use Park Grove veterinary clinic in Cottage Grove (651.459.9663). Dr. Cedarstrom and Dr. Hill are also both Lab owners and do a wonderful job with them... They even saved one of my females and her last litter. I think you can't go wrong with either of these choices. Sorry I don't know of one closer for you...Good Luck! Ken
danny berg
Como Park Animal Hospital @ 1014 N Dale Street. Just North a couple of blocks from where the old Joe's use to be.Real good with animals. Has good boarding if you need to leave the dog. Use to take the Reptiles there. Also, that is where the Ex-Girlfriend works.
bigdog
I don't have a regular local vet to offer but wanted to pass on the U of Mn vet clinic number. They usually work under referral but are staffed 24 hrs a day and have emergency service if you would ever need. Good to keep on hand just in case. 612-625-1919 8-4:30 mon-fri, 612-625-9711 after hours emergency. They are on the U of Mn St. Paul campus immediately west of the fair grounds. Swamp Scooter
I second the Stillwater Vet as a place to go. Great at getting the job done and your pet healthy again. They also do some great OFA x-rays.
Cootz
Dr. Fischer at Apache Animal hospital. Not too far from you. County Rd. D and Silver lake road in New Brighton. I was really impressed with her. Seemed really kind and caring. I moved two years ago and don't know if she's there or not.------------------So many scientists, so few rockets.
