Outdoor Card

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'll explain further.

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong.

Beginning this year non-resident anglers will be required to carry on their person, along with their fishing license, an outdoor card. The card costs approximately $9.00 and is good for I believe three years. The card will be available for purchase at the same place licenses are sold. You will be issued a temporary card to use while your application is being processed so you don't have to apply for the card in advance.

Resident anglers have been required for a while but us non-resident anglers have been getting by without it.

Good question. I just did a search for outdoor card Canada and the first site I found confirmed it is in Ontario for sure. As far as the rest of Canada goes, I don't know. I suspect it is a provincial thing and not federal.

Just got back from Canada Monday. We were checked by local MNR officers and they still know next to nothing about the cards don't even have the necessary equipment to scan cards yet. And from there explanation of the card you will still have to carry on your person the paper lisc. that you currently get now. One of the guys I was fishing with up there bought his 2009 lisc. on Jan. 1st along with his fee for the outdoor card and he still has not received his card.
