Where do I find this jig color?

Recommended Posts

I love making my own jigs, but for the life of me cannot find how to make this color:

I don't believe Pro-tech carries this type of gold, it's more of a metallic gold than the flat gold PT carries. Any thoughts? Spray-paint?

Metalic spray paint will get ya close but you wont get the shine of a plated jig like in the picture. Im not sure how that process works... Anyone?

Some of my best jigs and spoons this winter I painted with metalic spray. I believe thay worked so well at times because they were not real shiney.

I'll get a picture taken and posted...

it might be a coat of brass or something i know you can make gold pennies doing that try googling that. else i think i have seen a thing that is for jewelry but you dip it in and it gives it a gold coating that might be an option to.

That i$ real gold plating, done in an electrolytic chemical process. You cannot duplicate that at home and it is less expensive to buy all the jigs that you can use than to have them plated.

You can get a similar finish by using clear powder finish with gold glitter.

fishing frenzy,

If you know anyone that does speciality fasteners(coldforming) they might be able to help you out or put you in the right direction on that color. Its not cheap thats for sure you are better off finding them all ready done unless you have a certian type jig head you want done. Thunderman

Thanks again for the replies. I ordered some Pro-tec transparent gold and some gold glitter to go along with it, hopefully I can make something close. I'll be sure to post with results, thanks again for the help!
