Wish-I-Were-Fishn
I'm sure the camping show in Feb was different, but there was only one RV dealer at the Sportshow. The show had lots of empty space that they tried to fill with stuff like benches, antique tackle display and also they had the snake show in the main area instead of a separate room.Signs of the times, but we still enjoyed the show. Powerstroke
I couldn't agree more. I was hoping to find a few more RV dealers so we could spend some more time in the units before deciding. What a joke! I realize times are tough but this years show was one of the worst.
picksbigwagon
Dude, if you want an RV, our neighbor has been trying to sell his motorhome for the last 4 years. It is big one, but I would sure like to see it go
bb2323
There were actually 2 dealers there but 1 of them only had 1 5th wheel down there. My family has been in the business since the 60's and this show isn't worth going to because there just isn't many sales from this show. The RV show in Feb is much better but was down this year as well. Times are very tough right now and those spaces aren't cheap. There will be dealers and manufactures going under. Sounds like Fleetwood, who is a huge manufacturer has or is in the process of going under. There will still be some that make it through though. 5th wheels are still ok but big motorhomes are very tough right now. Get out there and look with this nicer weather. Powerstroke
I figured the economy had a lot to do with it. We went to the other RV shows and saw lots more. I just thought there would be more dealers there. Its hard to make it there cause our sat. are shot and dealers aren't open late or sundays. We'll find a way. We've already got camping reservations and no camper.
Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Yes, I do understand. They really have it rough. The high gas prices last summer drove the last nail in the coffin for some of these folks.UPS can charge more, postal service can raise their rates, but RV sales (and boats) go right down the toilet. IFallsRon
The large St. Cloud dealer is currently having a bank liquidation sale. They're likely rigs from the folks who gave up although they did lose the lease to their Fargo store and I presume the inventory is here.I went to their spring show a few weeks back and the price of an 09 model like my 07 was about the same that I paid. But prices in the spring and in the summer when they try to move old inventory are pretty similiar.
