Question

I'm flying into Vegas tomorrow morning and just discovered that my drivers license has expired on 2/2/09. My passport and ss card are securely locked up in the safety deposit box and cannot be accessed until Monday morning. There is time to get ahold of them on Monday morning, and still make the flight, but its tight.

Iowa recognizes a expired (date) license up to 60 days past the expiration date. I have printed Iowas policy on this and plan on taking it with me, but am having second guesses as to whether they will allow boarding or not.

I cannot get in touch with the airlines, (Allegiant) although I did call Omaha and they said they would have no problem with boarding in this situation.

Do you think the airlines will have the same view of an expired license, as a photo ID?

Am I better off playing stupid (easy for me to do sometimes) and just go there and hand them the card like I dont know its expired, or should I risk the timeframe waiting to get to the bank to get the passport and ss card. Weather may be a factor in the small time frame also.

TIA.

I finally got ahold of the airlines, and they said that they would not deny me boarding, but, they dont run the final check point, which is managed by the federal government. They indicated that I probabbly would get thru, but could not guarantee it, for the obvious reson that they dont have the last say.

Ive arranged to meet the banker at 7:30 tomorrow, and we will access the safety deposit box as soon as the timer allows him to unlock the vault.

Weather looks like it wont be a factor.

I'm flying out with 10 other family members and dont want to have any hassle at the gate.

Thanks,

R

Many states have zero tolerance on the expiration date. If they look at it they may give you a very hard time. Does yours have the new magnetic stripe? That will definitely show expired if scanned, and raise a flag to have you "step aside" for further scrutiny.
