I just moved up to superior and I want to fish the Brule this spring. But have know clue on how to start fishing it. Any tips would be GREAT!!!!!!!!!

Marine General in Duluth will probably be your best bet for trout info. They live for that. You could also try The Bait Box there in Superior.

If you have never fished for Steelhead before, the initial set up can cost a bit. It can be a whole other critter: 8-10 foot fly rod in an 8-10 weight, single action fly reel, bent-eye egg hooks, vest, REAL GOOD WADERS, etc. Good luck, it's addicting and starts earlier in WI than it does on the North Shore.

M-Gen or superior fly angler can get you set up with quality gear. The weather and water are both cold. Buy quality-challenged (avoiding poor word usage notice) stuff and it will break on you when you most need it. Steelhead are equipment killers and they will take down poor quality stuff really freakin' quick.

FYI, don't ask message boards for spots, 'headers are more closed lipped about spots than corpses at a quiet contest.

I agree with Quick those 2 places will have better idea on what gear to use and up to date reports because they have a lot of guys coming through that are fishing regularly.

I'll second Great Lakes Fly, possibly consider a guided trip out of their for a extra jump start into how to fish it.

I beleive there is still a FM guide that works out of there.

Seems as I got the hook up from work this week, I'll be fishing the Brule Thursday through Saturday. Air temps are suppose to be in the lower and mid 40's for highs. I'll be fishing by myself so if anyone want to join up shoot me an email dnelson @ oaconsulting com
