TonkaBass
I read up on that reel and it is pretty cool. No line guide or 5-star drag. I personally like the new curados a lot. I have been playing around with the one I got and would have to say that it is pretty nice. I however have never touched the ardent yet. In my personal experience shimano makes a great product. Cecil
Never used an ardent, but I have held one and they are very nice reels. Not the prettiest thing out there, but I know functionally they are good. I think it would be worth a shot trying one out.
Katman
I have a newer curado and 08 core. The core is super light, very refine and consistent. Drag is excellent, even on bigger fish. I use it to throw bigger musky baits NO PROBLEM! Worth every dime!
olski
I don't know if you have ever putzed around with an Ardent, but sad to say they just don't feel that great, the spinning reals feel like very cheap reels. A buddy of mine who is at this moment fishing is Texas(sent pics. of a 7 and a 9 yesterday.) got one of the Ardent flippin reels for the trip, out of the box not very impressed, used it a little at home and said it was OK. I don't know if he was trying to talk himself into it or what but I will talk to him tonight and get some feed back.
