Lubricating Your Auger

ASMOLEY

Recommended Posts

I have a 4 year old eskimo auger and some of the powder coat is pealing off. It still works great but sometimes the ice shaving like to stick. It's not to the point where i want to replace it or pay to have it repainted. Does anyone lubricate their auger blades?

For still in the fishing season Pam or any other "kitchen lube" or AMSOIL Silicone Spray (non-toxic and carries USDA H-1 rating for food grade use, should be fine around the water and not leave an odor that will scare away fish.)

For off-season protection: AMSOIL Heavy Duty Metal Protector is a spray on synthetic wax like coating. I don't know about any residue getting in the water, but next season it can be cleaned off with most common solvents (parts cleaners, paint solvents, etc.) The Silicone Spray or other thin film protectants may not provide adequate protection for extended periods.
