Just like 2 weeks ago I got my new lowrance x67 ice machine. the only problem I am have is the depth keeps changing (i.e. I am at 20' the depth always moves and goes down to 10' or sometimes down to 2') it never goes up always down. I looked in the book and it said check the ducer cord for cuts or nicks and there is nothing there. everything it hood up fine. I don't know what is going on. and the barrury is up to snuff. also I am not fishing with anything eles who has a flasher. I don't know what to do? please help!!

When your depth changes.. are you still reading the original depth and just displaying a different one? or does the entire readout change to the new depth?

meaning I am fishing 20' and displaying 20'.. suddenly it changes to say I am fishing 10' but I am still displaying my 20..

make sense?

I have a buddy whose x67 does the exact same thing, but only with interference from a Vex... I will chat with him about the issue in greater detail and get back to you.

So far from what I have seen its just an annoyance deal that doesnt change his original depth reading and he can continue to fish, just says he is fishing in 2' of water from some ODD reason.

Neighbor_guy has fished with an x67 for quite some time. He will see this post and maybe be of some help. But I have never heard of his maching giving him any issues.

on the graph page i think it stays the same. but on the flasher the whole depth chages. the whole thing the whole depth and flasher chages. The bottem reading line moves and I cant mark fish because the depth keeps changing. I hope this help you understand. sorry its getting kinda confussing.

Mine was doing the same thing when I first got it. I went to the graph page and turned the noise rejection and surface rejection off and now it works great.

did it do the same thing in you boat or just in the winter?

I've found that with my X67C I have to have the sensitivity on manual and the battery must have 12 plus volts. If you go to the page that displays the volts and it reads anything lower than about 11.8 volts I've found that my flasher will do the exact same thing. I'm sure you know but make sure that you're on the flasher setting for ice fishing. You should see a battery gauge on the side of the screen. Hope this helps.

You can also put the voltage reading on the graphing screen as well, and have a constant reading of what the battery has left.

I've experienced the same thing on my X67 Ice Machine and have found that the culprit is the battery. The battery indicator on the display show will 80% and it works fine. Then, it starts going haywire (still displaying 80% battery) with depth issues and soon after the battery level drops like a rock and turns that icky yellow color. I basically know that when the unit starts acting up like that it's time to either charge or put on my back-up battery.

I don't trust the internal battery gauge any longer. I just charge every night after a full day of use.

My vote is that the battery is low.

I've experienced the same erratic symptoms. I've tried every combination of settings there are with no change. Sometimes were fine, other times the depth would jump around making the flasher mode useless.

Reading thru this thread, I realized that I would very rarely charge my battery. The gauge never seemed to drop low enough to where I felt it needed a recharge.

On Saturday, based on the recommendation above, I decided to top off my battery before heading out. THE THING WORKED FLAWLESSLY - Not one problem in either flasher or graph mode. I was even in a busy area with other flashers running not far away.

This experience leads me to also believe that that this unit is sensative to battery condition.

That's weird that you've had problems with low battery. I have used mine all the way to 7 volts (unit then shuts off). Switch to chart manual mode and it doesn't try to find the right depth range, it just shows the return for the one you choose.

I have my original Cabelas battery and the last time I checked after charging it was showing 14.8 volts. It's now about 2 1/2 years old. I'm going to try and put the voltage reading on my graph page like triple B does.

I have lowrance and I never have problems with it, not even when I am right next to a vex. I never use the flasher mode, always the graph, this works way better. Make sure the unit is on ice fishing mode also, these units do use uo the battery quicker then a vex will.
