youngie22
hey guys not sure what funcion a vacuum pump has on my vehicle. Scott K
The vacuum pump supplies vacuum to the brakes, and the heater controls. The pump isnt real easy to do, you will need to remove the fan, and you will need a speacial tool to get the fan off, then you will need to remove the vacuum pump pulley, and will need a puller for that, then just remove pump and replace. Its about an hour to an hour and a half job, if you have the tools.
deadeye
You should be able to rent those tools at any auto parts store. It makes doing the job pretty simple if you got the tools for it. Its a good saturday project if your really slow like me.
dabaer
are you sure its not just the belt? a few weeks ago i thought my alternater was going bad because of a real bad squek, but i gave the belt a little shot of wd40 and the squek went away. i dont bout your truck but just a thought. youngie22
not the belt, seems that it eats up the belt. It could be just the pulley. I was told it is simole to remove on this vehicle, but I think I believe wandering eyes more so. doable but not simple! would that be right
