what kind of structure do you look for when spearing. and what depths. and for depths what is the max depth you would go and the shallowest you should go.

I usually look for a point or some other break in the structure. I also like to be right next to a weedbed, or better yet, between a weed bed and a drop off. I like to be in 5-8 FOW but will go deeper or shallower depending on the action. Just my $.02.

I am always looking to get to a point on the lake where i have good structor on a few sides of me. I try to spear in 10-12 feet of water. The best is to have a deep water access for the fish to come up to the shallow water. Get on the outside of a weedline to be able to get the best action!

Late in the season pike will run on top of the weed beds. when the season starts to run out i will put my decoys a foot under the ice in 6-8 fow. that is when i am set up on the edge of a weed line.

Now you tell us!! grin
