I usually look for a point or some other break in the structure. I also like to be right next to a weedbed, or better yet, between a weed bed and a drop off. I like to be in 5-8 FOW but will go deeper or shallower depending on the action. Just my $.02.

I am always looking to get to a point on the lake where i have good structor on a few sides of me. I try to spear in 10-12 feet of water. The best is to have a deep water access for the fish to come up to the shallow water. Get on the outside of a weedline to be able to get the best action! cherokee
The last day of the season I set up in 5-6 feet of water and both northerns came from the shallow. Early on shallow, later move deep and later still move back up shallow.
