Mr. heater cooker noise question

I have a new Mr. Heater-Cooker, new 12 ft hose, and also purchased the filter, connected to a 20lb tank. Ran it last night for about 4 hours and it constantly made a hum/shriek like an airplane noise. Any ideas on how I can eliminate this? The unit has only been used twice. The first time was with a 1lb tank and it didn't make that sound until the tank was about empty.

i have the same problem i just use one pounders on it tho, the noise usually goes away after the heater warms up, at least that's the way mine works. the first time i used it i wasn't sure if i should run for the hills or let it make the noise. lol

Fish-a-man mine does the same as yours with 1-lbers. Once it heats up the noise stops.

Mine does it all the time... have had it for a few years now and I am just used to the noise I guess.

Ya, I have had 3 of them and they all squealed a little when they were warming up. It does it with the little pounders and the big tank. Its just trying to wake you up!

They squeal when warming up and when u have a frying pan on it also. Good heater when fishing outside to warm up quickly, other than that well they make loud noises. good luck

i've found that mine will make the noise when i start it but also when i lay it on its back but if its standing up it doesn't so idk what to tell ya try that if it don't work well deal with it i guess lol

noise is normal, I have one too and its sounds like an airplane til it warms up then mine is quiet, love the heat it puts out!

When you start your heater turn it to high and it will stop sooner, at least my stops faster on high then i drop it to low.

sounds like everyone has the same problem and no one knows how to keep it from doing it. has anyone found out why it makes the noise or where it comes from? seems like were all just going to have to deal with it like cold_blood said earlier. i love those little heaters tho, even with the noise.

Sounds like the gas flowing through the valve is at a diameter that makes noice and one it heats up and expands ever so slightly that it goes away. Just a guess.

I am not saying this is the right to do but what I did was to take a small metal hose clamp and slid it over the hole where the air mixes in just enough to quiet the heater. Do not cover the complete hole or it will make heater burn badly.
