Anybody use UHMW plastic , I beleive its the same stuff those cutting boards are made of indestructable and slipery comes in sheets or rectangle bars most any demensions you want

Sold by the ft way cheaper than Hi-fax 1/2 to a 1/3 cheaper.

Croixflats, I'd go thicker than 1/4", probably look for 5/8" or go with the 3/4" for longevity and to countersink the screw caps.

That what I put on my Otter lodge because I have to cross a road to get to the public access. I went thicker but as strong as the stuff is it was probably over kill. I countersunk mine with stainless steel nuts and bolts.

I put 1/2" thick x 2" wide uhmw under my sled and it works great

But where do you get it without paying an arm and a leg for shipping?

I have a 2 man (Otter-wanna-be) M-General custom.

I got some 1/4" HDPE (high density polyethylene) from a local plastics shop here in Duluth. I counter sunk stainless flat head bolts slightly. Now my 12 year old daughter can pull the loaded sled down a packed trail by herself, including a 20# propane cylinder. Had the stuff on for 2 yrs and it still looks great. Pulls way easier behind the snowmobile too.

Talked to the owner today. The stuff they have is not as tough as UHMW, but it is a lot less expensive. Asked if he might be interested in cutting 2" wide strips from his leftovers after other projects and he said sure. He'd put some in the show room for walk-ins etc.
