Gophers Schedule USC

LMITOUT

Recommended Posts

Well, time for Brewster to put his money where his mouth is, that is, if he's still here by then. They'll be playing USC at home in 2010 and then at USC in 2011.

They'll also be playing South Dakota (2010) and NDSU again (2011).

Nice...

I was hoping NDSU would get to beat up on the gophers again!

Yea those

Bison SUREEEE did look good this last year! ....lol..

North Dakota State finishes the season 6-5 and 4-4 in the MVFC, while South Dakota State "RABBITS" ended the year at 7-5 and 6-2 in conference play.

Them Jack Rabbits from S.D. are looking BETTER EVERY YEAR!

Just heard an interview with the gopher A.D. The gophers will continue to schedule a game a year with the likes of the bison, SDSU, ND if they get their stuff straight. He said out of the 4 non-conference games they like to play 3 of the 4 at home. The 1 road game they will now schedule BCS conference teams rather than the road they have been goin on. They now have contracts with USC, Colorado, and Oregon State. They have been trying to get contracts with many other teams such as Washington State, Iowa State and Nebraska. This biggest hurdle is to find another school with the schedule openings that the U does.

This kind of scheduling is great for the Gophers, and really, all college football fans in the area. Sure, the Gophs might not win them all, but who doesn't want a chance to see a team like USC play in person? Games like these (versus USC, Colorado, Oregon State) will almost be like another bowl game added to the schedule.

It definitely can't hurt recruiting. Most top-caliber players either want to be part of the best, or have a chance to beat the best. Hopefully some of those players that are passed up by USC will start looking towards the U of M a little more. The coaches will tell the current players that all games are important, but you can bet that those players will definitely have that USC game circled on the calendars.

The recent scheduling is also a great PR move by the U of M. Games against the USC's will be sold out and highly watched on TV regardless of the score. The games against the South Dakota's will also generate a ton of buzz around the U, just like it did when NDSU came in 2006 & 2007.
