93 Polaris 300 front end problem

There should be two wires encased in silicone (blue I think) running down the legth of the aluminum strut casting to the hub, the wires run down to the magnet inside the hub that engages and disengages the 4 wheel drive on each side. Check to see that the wires are intact and not torn out or broken anywhere.

It only took a quick look to find the broken pair of wires. I imagine that a person could try to splice this, but replacing the wires would be the best I am sure. Anyone out there familiar with the repair? Would I hurt the machine running it like this?

A properly done wire splice is just as good as new wire. Assuming its not too dificult to access, strip the wires, put some heat shrink on before twisting them together, then solder. Then slide the shrink tube over the splice, heat it up and resecure the wires out of harms way. Should be good to go!
