Big-Al
The front left wheel is not driving on my wheeler. Anyone have any clues as to what kind of issue I might have?
NAMASafetyDirector
There should be two wires encased in silicone (blue I think) running down the legth of the aluminum strut casting to the hub, the wires run down to the magnet inside the hub that engages and disengages the 4 wheel drive on each side. Check to see that the wires are intact and not torn out or broken anywhere.
Big-Al
Thanks NAMA, I will check that. I didn't think a machine this old would have an electronic hub.
Dave
Check the hub fluid level as well.
Big-Al
It only took a quick look to find the broken pair of wires. I imagine that a person could try to splice this, but replacing the wires would be the best I am sure. Anyone out there familiar with the repair? Would I hurt the machine running it like this? Dozer
I would just solder it back together and rock and roll!
Macgyver55
A properly done wire splice is just as good as new wire. Assuming its not too dificult to access, strip the wires, put some heat shrink on before twisting them together, then solder. Then slide the shrink tube over the splice, heat it up and resecure the wires out of harms way. Should be good to go!
NAMASafetyDirector
If you can get at them you can splice them back together, and no it wont hurt to run it that way. Glad you found it!
Big-Al
There is little or no slack to get a splice in, but I will give it a shot this evening. Thanks for all the help.
