Alarm System for Perm Houses

And when it goes off, who will attend to it? Unless it is set up to shock the people or something, not sure it will help to much. The same question came up this summer when people boat trailers were getting messed with while people were out fishing.

Look up on internet D e W a l t Mobilelock jobsite security system. I know a few people who use it for fish house and lake cabins, trailers, whatever they leave unattended. Theres a little cost to it, but it includes gps tracking if someone was to steal it completely, and it can be set-up a few different ways and easily moved from place to place.

nobody breaks into ice houses when people are watching or are around. by the time anybody knew they were there they would be long gone. good idea, but heres a better one. dont leave stuff you'll miss in an ice house. A guy on a lake i wont name two years ago had his flat screen along with surround sound and stereo system stolen out of his ice house. that will learn yah.

here is what i do.i take all the spendy stuff out and leave the rest.when i leave all i do is lock the dead bolt.if they want in bad enough they will get in.i have blinds in my windows i close those before i leave that way they can not look inside top see whats in there.putting alarm system on a fish out on the lake is kinda funny.if its a pull behind the npull it off the lake.alot of ppl do that on lotw.

I installed an alarm on my skidhouse. I leave it unlocked but the strobe lights and alarm are set to go off if the door is opened. I keep my shack empty so there is nothing to steal and with the 120 db alarm they wont stick around long to do much else. The lake is usually pretty busy and I usually check it often if I havent fished in it recently. I run the system off a flasher battery.

im sorry man but if i was fishing next to a house that had an alarm and it somehow happened to trip like they always do i would be upset about having to listen to that thing all night. Look at it this way Matt, after you take your belongins out you still alarm the thing, (which you spent money and time on just to "spook" somebody away??? who is the joke really on?

I have an idea but, it would cost around 1000.00 if you were serious or had a very nice big house with lcd tv, sat, kegerator, etc. Use a solar panel with a home alarm system and cellular back up. GE or ademco make some nice systems you could get on the internet and if you are electrically inclined, could wire up your self. People use them on their cabins when not there. When it goes off the alarm using its back up batt like from a flasher calls the service center, which in turn calls you. like i said just an idea, far from practical. the best option is a cattle fence power supply hooked up to your door knob, with a switch hidden some where to shut it off. Oh I'm sorry did i say that out loud. (Sarcasm) check local laws before applying this last method. Could be a potential lawsuit, but would be fun. Good luck on keeping those little bastards out.

i dont think the fence thing is such a good idea, afterwards somebody is either A. Going to kick your door in (if there nice)

B. Drive there pickup right threw the wall of your house. (seen the aftermath) someone did this for 3 fishing poles and a tackle box.

Since my house is empty the only thing I am worried about is people fishing in my unlocked house and throwing garbage everywhere. Or the occasional person that thinks it would make a nice bathroom. The alarm system cost about $30 and keeps the majority of the idiots away. Sounds like a good investment to me.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
