Rippinlip
Anyone know where I can take my wife's wheeler to get it painted.I bought her a Polaris 400 (red) and she loves the new blue, problem is that only comes in a 500 or bigger.Looking at taking it in and having someone paint it the Polaris Blue.Looking for someone in the southern part of the state.Any ideas.Mark
Johnsonator
I would buy new plastic before I painted it, but that is just me. Paint wouldn't last long with the way the plastic flexes and gets scratched. Sometimes you can find a good deal on the big internet auction site. Dave S
I agree with Johnsonator. I would just buy the plastic instead of painting. Although some of the mfgr's are painting their plastic for the new machines.I'm not sure how durable it is. But some of the guys on here have the mfgr painted plastic and can comment. Dozer
Depending on how hard your wife is on her machine it might work ok. I know for me it wouldnt work because every scratch in your plastic would be scratched down to the original plastic color. Check around for urethane paint and ATVs. Hafnutz
The type of plastic that they use doesn't hold paint very well with out a lot of special additives. By the time you buy all the materials you might be just as well off to buy new plastic.
Caleb S
If you take it to a body shop the cost will be very high. You could try and find someone that does painting on the side. Try posting an add on c-list.
DrKen
Painting the plastic involves using flex additives which are very expensive in addition to proper prep. This is to keep the paint from cracking and falling off the plastic. Probably cheaper to buy new plastic.
BlueLundFishrman
I am thinking about replacing the camo on my 4-wheeler, and that is a vinyl that is applied to the plastic, in this case it would go over the original vinyl. Do a web search of "vinyl wrap for atv" and you should find some places to look and maybe they will have a color that will work for you. I think that some graphic shop [Please read Forum Policy before posting again. Thanks] could match, or come close to, the color your looking for. The_Duckslayer
Do they make blue duct tape? Painting anything that flexiable and made of plastic will look good right up to the first time you take it onto the woods.
