Roofer
It all depends on the quality of workmanship and quality of materials you want. If you have big overhangs it might be a bit more also.Ballpark will be 10-15K.It looks like glen got a decent deal, depending on materials. There are new rules with contracting, so a lot of things may change. Siding is one thing a company can do without a contractors license, so that is one gamble you may have.
glenn57
the siding was steel, thremo tech windows.
Longline
How long do you plan on keeping your house? If you plan on having it for a long time I would look at going with Steel Siding or the new cement board stuff. I heard that you can get the Cement stuff pre-finished for not much more then steel, but primed i think it is cheaper then steel, then you can change the color sometime if you don't like it. Tim Boomgarden
I do agree with longline!! We just got done with a job that had 60 sq. of cement siding!! I personally would go with steel just cause I hate to paint!! But the fiber cement siding is very durable and really easy to put on!! And you could put smartboard (vinyl coated wood) around your windows for trim and for your corners!
croixflats
Pay the extra for steel or cement and save enviroment from toxicity. I'll be siding my house this summer with cement board.More laber involved but you get a better product that does not cause cancer to the ones who make it or for the people that live by the plant that makes it. Roofer
I have pics of cement board that has mold on it sitting on the pallet. After using it, I would would never put it on my house. You will be looking for mold, cracks, etc, and depending on caulking to keep out the elements. Not a good product IMO.Steel is a good choice, but most find it hard to pay for good vinyl. Roofer
Sorry to bring the facts, but I thought you would like to know. I really can't think of anything natural that will withstand our weather.

nelson_bw
I am not asking for opinions on what material to use, I know that vinyl is not the best material out there. I am looking for rough estimate of what it would cost for new vinyl siding and alum soffit / facia, I do not plan on living in my house for that long and I am on a budget. If I was planning on living in my house for 30 years I would not use vinyl, but in my situation it is the best and most economical option.
loosegoose
Dito on with steel instead of vinyl. If you do decide to go with vinyl go with good quality, not the cheap stuff.
elkrivermn
Go with Stucco....... It will be good for fifty years before you need to redash Your house is a investment!!!
Meycatch
I do construction and that picture of the cement siding looks like it probably had a tarp around it after it had got wet. everything molds up if that happens. For the resell and durability Id always go with cement. Plus you can get it already finished if you dont want to paint.
Esox_Magnum
I agree the Hardi Board is good stuff. We use mostly Ceader and stone on our new homes or Shakes but we are talking 6 figure homes here.
