Far off birds

Birds were pretty skittish in the woods today and wouldn't let me get very close so I added the 2x extender and did the best I could.

All with the 50D,F6.3,iso 640,@600mm Shot in RAW,no noise reduction applied.

This Finch was a loooong ways away. I cropped heavy and I think I had some funky mirage going on,but I still kinda liked it.

This guy thought he was far enough away-wrong,me red bucko!

Took awhile to see this dude-but I could hear him "oinking". Focused on his butt-my bad!

And I have to thank Mr.Chicky-he let me know that the 2x extender works fine-if you can handhold it steady at 600mm! Looks pretty friendly,don't he?

They all look good to me, MM. The "mirage" in that first image is just the 2x delivering some of its typical background pattern when there's a contrasty background.

Love that cardinal in his shrubby environment!

Your Black-capped is great but like Steve I like the look of the Cardinal.

I do like to see the cardinals, I think because it's one I don't get a chance to see and they are a magnificant bird!

MM, that Cardinal is great! You should have told everybody that the image was taken in a quarter inch of frezzing rain.
