New Years Day Gills

Recommended Posts

Started off after eyes, after the day wore on we decided to hit one of last seasons honey holes and started hammering the gills. Took home 45 gills and 2 perch between the 2 of us. All nice thick fish, we weighed them today as part of the shack rivalry of who got biggest. Gills ranged from 7oz to 12oz.

This is like your calling card Esox, a mess of panfish with a Mt. Dew 20oz bottle next to it. Is there a day that you've ever got skunked?

Also Esox, I know of a couple of friends that want to do an Ice Fishing trip to the Great Lakes and are looking for an outfitter with some Ice huts to rent. Is there any outfitters around the lakes that do this?

Looks like a great day Esox, we of course got into a mess of perch again yesterday, a bit bigger in this deeper water. Tip ups were hot last night until about 10:00 ended up with walleyes under me all day, only picked up a few though.

This will be my 5th winter fishing here and been skunked 1 time as LOTW already stated. Been a few close calls though LOL. Open waters another story though. But those skunk days are mostly chasing muskies.

And yes DH it's nice to relax and take a break after a long summer of throwing baits. ( over 400 hours logged after skies)

As far as outfitters only 1 I know of that might do it is John Grovsner, a local guide. He's good but not cheap. I know he has several shacks and does take groups out.

Tourney on Lil E so thats out, Millers and Emerson is busy to. More guys on Smiths the last couple days but no clue if the fish have moved back in. Perch can be had on Anglers on Spirit if you can get on them. Few eyes to be had on Spirit to from the reports I have gotten tonight but not sure on location. I'll be on West someplace won't decide for sure where till I pick my partner up in the morn.
