MUSKY18 jr!!!!

Check this little video out of my 7 year old out fishing with me one day. Kid loves to muskie fish almost as much as I do. He was working a Jackpot when I recorded this. Still getting the hang of WTD, but getting better and can work the living snot out of a HellHound as well.

About 20 minutes after I recorded this, he had his first legitimate follow from a super nice musky. Probably a 47-48 inch fish that made his heart beat pretty fast and I know his eyes were the size of dinner plates!! Talked about that fish for about 3 days. One of the highlights of my season for sure.

love it! reminds me of my first times out when I was about his age just waiting to troll so i could quit casting that heavy lure! I will never forget my first follow. I was about 10 and the guy i was with said it was a solid 50"+. 11 years later I remember it like it was yesterday.

that look on his face you mentioned sounds like the same look i've seen on adult faces... hmmmm ... strange. and the talking about it too. now that's unreal. must be some kind of universal bug that knows no age limit.

at least he did'nt get that nightmare bug that sometimes goes around at that point. whew... that would be horrible.

That is so cool. I have two daughters and we're still in the Snoopy rod stage but I really hope one of them catches the bug too. Just think, you can tell the Mrs. that the new lakewood full of gear is for him!!

Please keep us up to date as he starts to nail fish. I know Propster tries his best to out-do the kid but I think they ended '08 all tied up.

Yeah.....he already wants to join us on our Canada trips, but needs a few more years before he is ready for all day, everyday, week long trips!

Just for reference, he is throwing a 6'10" pole with a 5500 on it. He actually does much better with the longer poles than the 6'6" I started him out on.

I started when i was 10, and the first two fish i caught were both on Jackpots, kinda weird. Just so you know eric, i ended up beating him with 4 more fish, but he kind of kicked my butt in size. Hopefully next year i'll have both titles.

Very cool!!!! My 10 year old daughter started muskie fishing this past summer with me. Great memorys for sure.

Bret you definitely did a great job getting him hooked on muskie fishing. Great excuse to get out on the water twice as much!
