Badger
Willy - The Big Ten is down this year. The only good teams are Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan State. The Gophers didn't have to play Penn State or Michigan State and were beaten soundly by Ohio State. Their non-conference schedule was very weak as well. Michigan and WI are bad this year, but the Gophers lost to both of them (pounded by MI). Face it... they got better, but still are a crappy team! Willy
Yes, they are average at best. But I still think they're better than Bucky. I just don't like reading things where guys act like that is how it was supposed to go. Take away those 2 safeties and the fumble down on our own 10 yd. line and Gophs win this game going away. You can say the same thing about the Pack & Vikings game. Take away one of the 2 safeties and the Pack win (or if they make the FG they win). Those things didn't happen though and the Vikings won the game. That's the way it goes.
so haaad
If only they made that ball round! And that's why the play the games.
Willy
What I am pointing out is that the Gophers beat themselves with those plays. Wisky didn't shove it down our throats like the original quote I was replying to sounded like. I guess I just get sick of many Wisconsin football fan's attitude. And haad, pretty soon the ball will be round and Tubby's boys will show ole Bo what happens when there is a coach in Minnesota that isn't a complete dolt. so haaad
Yeah, it should be a fun "round" ball season this year too. I really like the direction that the three main sports are headed right now (football, men's hockey, men's b-ball).

I hope so. Bucky went in a 28 point favorite to Dan Monson and Long Beach State yesterday and struggled to get the win. Not a impressive first outing but Ryan always gets his team to play hard every night. My wife is a Badger fan (but also a Vikes fan luckily...the divorce would be expensive)so it would be nice to have something to crow about besides hockey for a change. MNPOINTER
Definetly a hard loss to take, especially being here in the heart of badger land I think that even with the loss there is an obvious change in this team from last year and certainly from Mason. That was the closest game in madison in a decade. Wisco may have owned us the last 10 years, but I see these two programs headed in opposite directions and I'll be the first to wave on the way up! They made a hard hit causing a fumble on the first one, (which should have been recovered for a TD. The 2nd safety was created with great pressure in the endzone. Did Vikings force the 2 safeties against the Packers? Yes, they did.
MNPOINTER
No argument from me on those safeties, pretty legit even to a die hard gopher fan, but two butterfinger fumbles inside our own 10 set up some pretty easy TDS.
tisosy11
Wisco gave it away first with all their fumbles, drops and other nonsense. Gophers didn't want it. I love watching the gophers lose on foolishness and untimely plays. BADGER!!!!
tisosy11
You gopher rubes...if you think this is a good year you are fooling yourselves.7 wins and not one win against a team with a winning record. You beat no one. Illinois is your trademark win! Love it, because they lost to one of the directional michigans or some [PoorWordUsage].Hey, at least you don't have to worry about Brewster leaving for Tennessee...not sure thats good or bad! MNPOINTER
gimme a break! not good! 1-11 to 7-5/8-4 plus bowl game? Beat last years rose bowl representitive on the road? Finish in the middle of the Bigten, not to mention in front of the badgers. Tops in the nation in turnover margian after being the worst defense in the nation, you must be delusional(or a badger fan) to think this wasn't a good year after last season. Look back at some of the posts on the gophs around august and sept, and take a look at the predictions on this season. Think it would be safe to assume that any gopher fan would be happy with the strides they have taken this year. Maybe a rube, but what a crock, haha

MNPOINTER
Only low expectations based on 1-11. I expect more next year and much more in 2010. By the way, starting in the top 10 and thinking big ten champs to barely making a bowl game? what are your expectations for the future

It is a good year according to expectations.6 wins for your beloved Badgers and not one of them against a team in the top 50 of the Sagarin Ratings. In fact, your signature win is against those silly Gophers you are ripping on. That team that lost to one of those silly directional Michigans was beat by your Badgers in Madison by 10. The Gophers beat them by 7 in Illinois. What is your point here? Replace the Badgers in each place you refer to the Gophers you pretty much have the same story. You Badger rubes...... Brewster has much to prove still. But one guy is closing the gap on the competition and Bielema is losing ground. The beloved Barry Alvarez went 1-10. 5-6, 5-6 before becoming a consistent winner. Brewster may never be Alvarez but at least he is trending up. Bielema is 12-1, 9-4 and what appears to be 7-5 this year. See a trend there? We may not worry about our coach leaving for Tennessee but we also don't have to worry about him getting canned or the fans turning on him quite yet. fishyguy
Yeah, it's always great when you set your expectations so low. Yeah, it does keep us from having to deal with a fall from the Top 10 with a Heisman hopeful to the bottom half of the conference, Heisman hopeful sharing time with freshman, and needing a sloppy win against a team Badger fans have called pathetic to get to a bowl game in Detroit or El Paso. Try Tempe. And yeah, the Badgers are having a down year but 4 straight years with a Jan. 1st bowl game is nothing to sneeze at. They'll be back!! PierBridge
I hope you are not to trying to compare programs that have 6 and ZERO National Football Champiomships......Gophers 6. Badgers ZERO!Who could forget the inaugural game between Gopher and Badger in which Goldy throttled Bucky 63-Donut.
fishyguy
Oh yeah, I forgot about Tempe, where they take #6 from one conference to play a #6 from another. I guess the point of my posts are the same and your reply does only reinforce that. We may or may not catch the Badgers program, we may or may not get to a Jan 1 bowl game in the near future, but one team is climbing and one team does seem to be losing its grip. Quote from PierB about the Packers championships. Thanks for old the timer trivia..... were there not like 6 teams in the league when the Packers won their Chapionships?_________________________ POT/KETTLE don't you think PierB?? Pack fans can't bring up 12 championships to the Vikes 0, but you can talk about the Gopher championships won in 1934-1935-1936-1940-1941-1960, The Packers championships were "old time trivia" right?
