pout-slayer
DC Can you freeze the pickle size cucs, vac seal them and pickle them later? I have too many and would like to save them for later.
metrojoe
I've got 2 jars of pickles in the fridge right now that should be ready tonight. Nobody at my house is a big fan of sweet pickles so I left out the pickling spice. I added a little extra dill in it's place. They look fantastic and smell even better. reinhard1
roughly how many pickles [the size you mentioned] do you use for this recipe? thanks good luck.
goblueM
Reinhard the nice thing about it is that you can scale it to how many pickles (or jars) you have, whichever is the limiting factor. the 1 cup vinegar/2 cups water fills 2 quart jars or so depending on how tight you pack em with cukes. You can also leave the cukes whole, or halve em, or quarter them, which will vary the number that fit in one jar.
reinhard1
thank you. this my be an anual thing with me for we do love pickles. i have been using my small cukes for kimchi but i will try this also. good luck.
Dark Cloud
Yep, it is far from exact. Sometimes I slice them in chips, sometimes, spears, and whole if they are small enough. Chipes fill the jars best which also means less liquid is needed... When im making the brine, I typically go heavy. If I have too much im only throwing away pennies in vinegar and salt... Dark Cloud
Yepper... Fill the jars with the goodies and pour on the liquid after it cools. Plop em in the fridge and try and wait 2-3 days..
