Vex...What this mean

I have seen this very frequently.
Looking at the Vex i see a solid inc of red with a hairline of yellow.

Is this weeds or solid bottom or mud?

Is the red the bottom? The way the bottom looks will difer on the type of bottom, Mud vs. hard rock etc.

Will a FL8 and a FL18 interfere with each other, in the same shack?

I have an FL-8 and my brother has an FL-18. When we are within 30 feet of each other I get some interferance. I use the button to cancel this and sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesnt.

On my FL-18 you can push the gain button in to pick a new "code" for interference reduction, each button push moves you from 1 then to 2,3,4 etc. (maybe it changes the frequency, I'm no engineer) Every time you turn the unit on you are on 1 again. there is either 9 or 10 positions you can be at for reducing interference, just by pushing the gain button in.

I fish with my fl-8 sitting a foot away from my partners fl-18, and I beleive all you have to do is push the little yeller button on my fl-8 to change freq. IR - Never seem to have any problems...

when you drop the jig into that red does the jig show up? what you may be seeing is weeds that are makeing a pocket. you should see the jig in yellow then when you bring the jig above the red and you get green following that should be a fish. If the green following your jig starts to turn color it is a fish. try turning your gain downand that red should get smalleron the bottom

In the manual there is a trick to cancel out all interference, something like, one off, the other one click.

The yellow flicker you see on top of the red bottom line is probably a fish laying right on the bottom.
