Early season pine cones

We had a 60-70 foot black spruce come down in the woods next to our cabin this weekend. It took me a minute to figure out what the tiny purple buds were - Pine Cones!! The top 6 feet of the tree was just thick with them.

Looks like the squirrels are gonna have a good year! I like the color contrast in the first one.
