juddH
Found the info.........Citizens of the United States should carry proof of their citizenship. A passport is ideal, however, a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, or naturalization certificate, when presented with valid photo identification such as a drivers licence will also be accepted. Permanent residents of the U.S. should bring their green card.
LMFlyin
You are correct. You do not need a passport in 2008 if you are crossing the border via land (ie. your car) Crossing the border via land you will need it starting June 2009. This is for not to get into Canada, rather this is for you to be able to get back into the USA after your trip in Canada is completed. You will need to provide 2 forms of ID if you do not have a pssport. One to prove citizenship (ie. birth cir or passport) and the 2nd to prove identity (picture ID such as your drivers lic or a passort). If you have your passport, bring it as it does make crossing the border easier. Good idea, if you dont have one to just go and get it as this rule is coming into effect and might as well get it if you plan to travel outside of the US in future years. Hope you have a good trip in June and catch lots of fish.

I was thinking about saving the cash and going with the card but figured you never know if you're going to fly or need to fly. For ten years $110 aint to bad
