bassNspear
I know that we are a long ways away, but I wanted to get this rend started so we can get some ideas for the get togethers next year. I am thinking of doing one in Decemeber, and then another one in Febuary. So lets hear where everyone wants to go, and we can start to brain storm to get the two lakes out there, so this way everyone knows whats going on. I know that we had alot of different post out there talking about different things and lake, so i figured we should get a post out there that is directed right to just the lakes and the get togethers. Thanks all, and start counting down the days. Huey
A little cold weather and you're already thinking spearing?! Ditto on the having the spear and ready to travel. I'll try to get there, where the Get-to Gators end up. I'll put my vote in for the Park Rapids area for the Northern Get-to-Gator. That's within striking distance for guys from Brainerd, Bemidji, DL, Walker, even the Cass Lake/Andrusia folks, etc. Plus I have a place to stay near there. Central Bassman
Andrusia is a lot of fun and we always see fish up there. But i think we should do a different lake for the Get the Gator
bassNspear
I think we have alot of differnt lakes we can choose from. I will look up others in that area around cass lake to see what else we can find as well.

merkman
I was drooling over Ten Mile Lake just south west of Leech when I was browsing the satellite lake clarity maps. 20 ft + visibility!!! Then I got the rest of the story Quote: Northern pike are abundant in Ten Mile Lake and the catch rate has been historically high compared to other Lake Class 22 waters. The mean length for northern pike was 21 inches and fish up to 30 inches were sampled. Since 1997, a regulation has been in effect which requires all northern pike 20 inches or longer to be released and the percentage of northern pike greater than 20 inches has increased since this regulation went into effect. So.. I guess Ten Mile Lake is a no go.
Gordie
as long as everyones tthrowing out places to spear in the north region lets not for get about Winnebegosh. Rental shacks, clear water, casino not that far away and the chance for monster pike.BnS I have also always wanted to fish Andrusia but for wally gators and we might go that way for opener but thats a differnt story. LOL yes I'm the caster!!!! I wouldn't say we have any real hotspots on Andrusia to give way. We just do a lot of homework before we get up there and make sure to look back on how we did in the past and go from there. This past year we did really good and i think a lot of our good doing had to do with the ice. The year before the ice didn't get in soon enough to let the lake settle down and clear back up. (that year i had to really pay attention and look down the hole most of time) It's a good lake but i think there are some small lakes up there that we could get on, that not a lot of guys spear on. That could be a BLAST!!!
bassNspear
bro is right, there is alot of nice little lakes out there that are awesome spearing lakes. The best part about the lakes up there is that not alot of people fish or spear them.

bassNspear
What are you thinking as far as lakes up there. I would be willing to drive as well.
glenn57
how about leech itself? i know people that spear leech over by whippholt and do ok. i think they spear around pine islands. dont quote me on the name of the island, i know there are some down on that end of the lake. we use to stay at andersons northland lodge years ago in the tullibbee daye and wanted to fish/spear that area for years. JoeTC
Leech itself would be great...I speared walker bay in feb. and was able to get two fish in only a couple hours. I also walleye fished through the ice earlier in the year on the main lake and it was very clear and I caught a nice fat pike and had talked to others that had caught some nice pike as well. Winnibigoshish is just Northeast of leech and I wouldn't have a problem going there either. The nice thing about both is that they're large enough to spread out some while still staying away from other anglers. There are plenty of other lakes in the area too if anyone knows anything about them. I spear on Lake Inguadona around longville but the lake gets hammered with spearfisherman.
