These guys happened to decide they wanted something to eat and thought our jig would be tasty. All of them were quickly photographed and released immediately. The first one here was around 20".

We fished from 3pm till 7pm and must have caught 8 or 9 Bass. We also caught a handfull of sunnies and crappies. Anyone know why these Largemouth were there? I have caught Largemouth before but never this many in so little time. Is this there spawning area? We were fishing in 8 ft of water close to weeds.

We caught everything from tiny perch to small sunnies and crappies to keeper sunnies and crappies. You would pull up a couple sunnies, drop your line back down and before you know it, bam, bass would be on. Pretty fun catching them on 2 and 3lb test.

I agree with JD, these fish were following the smaller fish you mentioned and this weedy area is most likely the staging area for future spawn. Last year I was on an Alexandria MN lake fishing gills and we released over 20 bass, not as large as yours, but they were certainly in the same are as the sunfish. Its pretty hard to beat the fight they give you on light panfish rigs. If you fish bass in the summer I would certainly work this area once the season opens, especially if it is adjacent to deeper water. Bill
