wow, five pages of people arguing bout the political correct terms for naming a fish. sounds like some people hav to much time to think while there fishing, common side-effect of not catchin any . I dont giv it too much thought, im usually too busy icing or boarting slabs, slobs, jumbos, fatties, dish-pans, hogs, and my personal favorive ginormious maximus!

North; same old, same old. I've been fishing the opener almost every year since I was 16 on a little river off the Mississippi down by Brainerd. Some years it's been great, some average (or not even) but now it's just tradition and one solid time each year I get to see my old fishing buddies for sure. We're out in waders at midnight, fire on the bank...by 3 am theres usually only 2 or 3 of us left:)

I won't say here what I called a northern that took my FAVORITE rod and reel down the hole Saturday.....it started out like "Phat"...

I'd just finished drilling another hole not 10 feet away..jiggin sunnies and also a dead stick with jig and crappie minnow...,. forgot to flip bail on dead stick. Looked just in time to see it skittering off seat of open fish house..across ice and down..

Drilled circle every 10 feet..about 30 holes..I was sight fishing in 10 feet of water..never saw it again..

Only owned one Thorne rod...now I have none.... boo hoo..

The 9.5" bluegills I was catching yesterday were "Brutes"! I had a bucket full of "hogs" when I was done!

While you might not call your wife/girlfriend/kids/mom names you call your fish, think about the names you call some of your buddies and those are all said affectionately.

no worries Deep, I wasn't trying to be PC, thats for sure, just seeing if anyone else was turned off by some of the names used. And it looks like...not! It's all good:)
