Home Depot Home services?

Moral of the story....It's not the name of the buisness it's the quality of the workers.

Checking refrences sounds likes a good idea but if you think about it, are they really going to give a customers name that thought you did a bad job?

Word of mouth is the best refrence.

Grebe-His name was not Eric.

On the references, you are correct that the references they give are generally satisfied customers. However you would be surprised how many haven't even lined up decent references (red flag). With the right line of questioning you can still get some decent information from the canned references. Seeing their work is also a big benefit. Some times that is not practical however.

I had Home Depot install carpet and a laminate in the bedroom. The work was subbed out amd was done very well. No complaints on any part of the process. Way better the the mom amd pop shop that installed the kitchen floor.

No experience with HD but I did buy a fridge from BB a few years ago. Paid to have the water hooked up. Took three weeks to get a guy out (they kept giving me money back cause I'm a stickler for coming out when you say you are) and when he finally got there he said "You got galvanized pipe's". I said very good genious, now install it. He said "you need a plumber for that". What the heck are you and get outa my house!!!. After being an @# for few days on the phone we got it resolved. But what a hassle, they don't check these folks out at all.

Everything else is good...we'er still waiting for the people to return with the correct sized counter top. This is supposedly the install week so we'll see?

From contact with a couple of other contractors I know and a salesman for Color Tile, counter tops seem to be a big sticking point in alot of remodels?

Well I ended up finding about the same deal on better windows from a local contractor that a friend of mine used and praised. I am very happy with what they had to offer. So I canceled with HD. Thanks for everyones input!

HD did 4 windows for me. I had to get them back out once to do a better job of caulking. I am generally happy with them, but I'll look around a little bit more next time.

( Note from Admin, Please read forum policy berfoe posting again,Thank-you.

What was nice about HD is that at least I knew that I cold escalate any situations up the ladder at HD in case of any substandard work performed. HS has a reputaion to be concerned about. When I complained, they were Johnny on the spot. However, I should never had to complain to get the proper work done. Who knows what I missed that they missed as well.

They finally got the countertops right in early June...January to June? Now that it's all in, we like it, but the process seemed wasteful in time and resource?

Wasted man hours, wasted material, lots of it...impositioning us waiting for them to show up time after time, only to be disappointed with the wrong size...the 3rd one was finally right...same with the smaller counter tops.

Sure glad we don't have those types of renovations done often!
