Juneau4
It's a slow week! I've often wondered if anyone knows what happened to him: He just kind of disappeared' talked about, but nothing really said, some where in that time period I missed something as what happened to him. I think he's dead but don't know why.

Papa Grump
Your correct Tom. He died of AIDS related symptoms somewhere around 1987 or 88 , just a couple of years after winning the points. He got alot of press till it was discovered that he was "sick" and until he died he was pretty much forgotten in a short amount of time. I believe that he drove for HMS. Uncle Bill
Here is a good biography of Tim Richmond.http://www.gordonline.com/feature/timrichmond.html
Juneau4
Thanks for the info. The article does put a little tarnish on NASCAR INC. being the good old boys family thing.
lawdog
I'm sure these drivers could (and still can) have a pretty free wheeling lifestyle at the track if they aren't married. Richmond obviously partied too much for his own good, but I imagine if they want to act like rock stars and have loads of uber hot women around, it wouldn't take much effort on their part. I was a part-time nascar fan in the 80's and also wondered what the story was behind Tim Richmond. I didn't do the math but it looks like he had a pretty good race percentage. It is a shame that Nascar shunned him the way that they did, but i guess this stuff was kind of taboo back then. RIP Tim Richmond.
