Non Resident Question

I will be hitting the Bois Brule River on the south shore of Superior for the first time, and I am confused to what trout stamp to purchase with my annual non resident fishing licence.

you will need an 'inland' trout stamp. check the regs i think if you are a certain distance away from superior, you would also need a 'great lakes' stamp.

As long as you stay with-in the "mouth" of the river you will only need a inland waters stamp.

Pay attention to dates. Opener is the 29th and current licenses are good til the 31st. New licenses and stamps are needed for April.

I don't get why Minnesota has one trout stamp for both the Great Lakes and inland.

Yet, we have to have both?

Because wi does way more with their trout fishery particularly the great lakes trout and salmon so they need more money. They have lake superior and lake michigan too. All minnesota's great lakes fishery money consists of stocking loopers and thats about it...wisconsin does more than that with their part of superior and then a ton with lake michigan.

For sure the vast majority goes to lake michigan...maybe they should just have trout stamp and a lake michigan stamp.
