Jim W
TO me it all depends on the thickness of the ice and how shallow I am fishing, in regards to how loud I like to be.However, I am usually fishng "open air" so I rarely spend time in doors. You might catch me singing out loud or even dancing on the ice at times!lolJim W
Guest
Before I start on my opinion I have an observation. Every fishing show that you watch they have dogs, cats and great looking women with them fishing but no radios or Alcohol.I used to have the radio going in the shack and the beers pouring, and had many skunked days. But now?I take a small radio and have it on real low to break the silence and for weather warnings.I dont listen for the music and I have to agree with Cubbies that it distracts you from what you are there for,and thats Fishing.I prefer to think that the noise from the Mr. Heater and my presentation of bait attracts them. And, No Alcohol for me on the ice! To easy to get hurt or do something dumb that you may regret if you live to. And yes I actually do about 200% better.Save the drinking and music for celebrating a good days catch on shore at your local watering hole with the gang. But don't drive drunk! Its not worth losing an FM member and friend over. Just go out to get away from the noise of society and enjoy the simple sounds like the splash of the fish coming up out of the hole, thats what its about. ------------------Fish On! This is what it's all about baby!
Farley
CD, you hit the nail right on the head, if you got some Zepplin and beer, who cares if the fish bite or not.I like having the radio on for the instace when the fishing is slow you can call the KQRS or 93x (whatever you're buddies in the house next to you are listening to) and formally request those guys in the blue and white king crow next to you to leave the lake since they are bad luck. And then request some "over the hills and far away".[This message has been edited by Farley (edited 11-20-2003).]
Brother Bro
I really can't say that the fish bite more or less when the radio is playing... but we don't have it blasting either. Where we fish the music that nails em' is POLKA... nothing like alittle Six Fat Dutchman and the fish come a dancing ------------------Brother Bro Work Less Play More

can it be luck?
Frozenminnow, you have my vote! One rule I have is no alcohol in my boat, atleast not drinking till the point of being drunk. Alcohol takes the edge off awareness, sensitivity, and many other things. I have nothing against drinking, though I rarely drink myself. Most all my friends drink. I do have something against people doing stupid things, stumbleing around, effecting my fishing. Alcohol is good entertainment for the non-drinker....it's pretty comical watching drunk people. ------------------http://groups.msn.com/canitbeluck
DanS
In my opinion any unnatural, unnecessary noise should only affect the fishing in a negative manner. That being said I have noticed on more than one occasion that starting your vechical on the ice and creating those vibirations can sometimes turn the fishing on. I like fishing to get away from the every day noise and rat race of it all. Theres nothing like hearing the bobber pop on your bait rig because that hungry walleye smacked it so hard. Navigator
Try snorkeling in one of our lakes during the summer. It's very interesting to observe fish behavior while hearing outboard noises and feeling the vibrations from boating activity. Also, I have noticed that if a person is talking that it is converted into subtle vibrations in the water. If I can feel it, count on the fish feeling it. So does music send out vibrations through the h2o....most definitely, but does it deter fish activity, probably not. Besides, NOBODY is turning off Pink Floyd. We caught some decent 'eyes trolling plugs after dark this fall on Mille Lacs and what were doing...listening to floyd, the who, ted nugent ect ect all though I've never tried the man in black or burning ring of fire???
