How long has the blue box been around?

I bought a blue box in 1989 to put my Si-Tex Fl-6 on it. I believe that prior to Vexilar having the FL-8 it was Hondex, and prior to that it was Si-Tex. And, I think I remember seeing an FL-5 made by Ray Jefferson when I was still using my FL-6. I only think I remember that, maybe someone else could verify that memory. But, that may have just as well been a Si-Tex.

On a related note - how do you figure out how old it is w/o knowing when it was purchased, IE if you purchased a used unit.

When I sold my Fl8 last fall, i couldn't for the life of me remember when i got it. I called Vex's service center and they were able to look it up by the serial number on the back of the unit.
