I have put the reel weed down 10 different times around the out side of my wheel house 5 feet away from house and never got any fish.

If fish are suspended at 15 feet in 30 feet water I put weeds at the 15 foot ? is this wrong or what . HELP WITH MY WEED PROBLEM.

I'm starting to tkink it scares the fish.

no weed 7-10 fish a night.

with weeds no fish.

I have never seen weeds suspended 15 ft off the bottom and just float there, either have the fish.

I think part of the reason fish suspend is to forage and to

avoid predators, the weeds can allow a pike to hide in at 15 feet and that will keep the fish away.

I bought a set of 5 at the ice show and hadn't used them till this last Sunday. Was out fishing with Kingfisher and Aceinthehole. We were marking fish and catching a few. I drilled a v pattern around the house and dropped the weeds. By the time I got done with the last one my vex was lit up like Christmas. Ace's still showed the same amount. We didn't nail them still but we were still catching. No doubt they brought fish in for us.

Reel Weeds are artificial structure. Nothing more, nothing less. They are not the "Magic fish magnet" some may be hoping they are.

Having said that, I use Reel Weeds often. They are a regular part of my arsinal. Have they helped me catch fish? You betcha they have, hands down, without a doubt. However, don't read more into it than what it is.

If you are fishing in 30 FOW, and mark fish at 15, put the weeds at their level. Weeds are about 4 feet long. So, put the weeds from 13 to 17 feet. That way the suspended fish will hang in the middle of the weeds. Suspended weeds for suspended fish is a very solid way of keeping fish in the area. Will they draw fish in? I'm still up in the air on that. Will they hold fish? Absolutely.

When I read your post the first thing I see is wheel house. Hundreds of wheel houses out there, with hundreds of ways to set them up. I have a wheel house, and I really like fishing out of it. Lets face it though, you will catch a majority of your fish on the open ice, from a portable, or flat out moving from spot to spot. I'm not saying your stationary wheel house is stopping you from catching fish, but staying put is not putting the odds in your favor. You still have to go to where the fish are at.

Most of us have our favorite "Go to" lure. We know that our favorite lure will help us put fish on the ice. It guarantees nothing, we still have to do our part to be on the fish. Reel Weeds are no different. They are another part of the arsenal in our box. Do they guarantee anything? Nope. Will they help us? Yes.

I don't know which lakes you are fishing. One thing I have noticed about Reel Weeds is if the lake has a good population of pike, the pike will use the weeds as an ambush point. The pannies know how to avoid pike and may see the weeds as a threat.

Don't give up on the weeds. They definately have their place. I mostly fish shallow dish pan type lakes with little structure. The Reel Weeds have helped my catch rate a ton.

I have tried them on all of the 10 lakes I have fished since I received the weeds on XMAS.

From my experience they seem to be working better on lakes that are clearer and near summer weedbeds. I cant guarantee that the fish know any better but if I put the weeds in a place where no traditional weedbeds were, then they dont attract fish. But if I place them where brown or even green weeds are then the fish are attracted and stay there.

They also attract an enormous amount of small fish as i found yesterday. From the minute I put them down until 6 hours later my screen was constantly full. And for the few instances it wasnt, all I had to do was put a fresh minnow down and towards me from the weeds they came.

Like I said before... sometimes it seems like the lake is the issue..

I have noticed that they seem to keep the tiny fish around too. They don't seem to hold the bigger fish around all that great. It could be a lake thing too I guess. Some lakes I tried them on they seemed to help, but on others I would not get a bite until they were all pulled up. I know one thing is for sure, the gators will wrap your line up in them.
