DC's Ice Blanks

Recommended Posts

Well,

Tim went and challenged me again. You know that's not a good idea! Talked to a friend in the mid-west and he's pretty sure he can get those orange and black blanks again. He'll get by there as soon as he has a chance and check with the owner of the shop. Once he gets me a price and inventory #s, we can stock up. Ok, next time lets make it a little harder, ok? hehehehe

These are sweet light weight glass blanks with a nice taper and very sensitive tip. Some guys like a stiffer rods but like a lot of the other guys here, I like a soft tipped rod with a good backbone. Once I know the deal, I'll let you know and you are welcome to buy some just like everyone else. DC builds some super rods!! I haven't built one in a long time but have 4, yeah, I found another, of the glass ones above, some St Croix Avids and a sweet glass blank I need to cut down. Been a long time since I put my building skills aside. Wonder if I've still got what it takes?

Good one Steve..... Well like i said in my PM.... It really shows...

Shows what? that Steve and his family actually go fishing, catch fish and have a good time (just look at the smiles Steve and his family show in their pictures).

At least he's not hiding behind his computer starting unnecessary trouble everywhere he goes.

The members of this site are passionate about going out and catching a few fish and thats just what we do here.

pertaining to the Vex vs. Marcum deal. I still say any flasher is better than no flasher it comes down to personal preference . Personally I own a Vex and a Marcum and just happen to prefer the Marcum, and it has nothing to do who they sponsor or who tries to sell them.

Timmy - lots o hijacking lately, its all good though. \:\)

King - Iv'e made my fair share of rods but not really for profit, most were for cost or gifts. I may bang out a few rods for next year for most in here...

Fullmoon - Those avid blanks sanded and painted well. I softened the last few inches a bit and just gave em a few lite coats of flat black. Waiting on some guides now. Got my b-day lathe delivered today - a PSI Turncrafter Pro. Cant wait to play with some handles on that thing. Cork rings are getting way to pricy. I'll be useing more burls and composits. You got a line on rings?...

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
