Strikemaster auger not working. Ideas?

I just bought a new lazer mag xpress and it can't make it thru one hole without stopping. It also gets stuck at the bottom of the hole before it punches thru. What is going on? I also heard a pop last night while drilling the 5th hole of the augers life! and now the auger doesn't turn. I let off the throttle every time it got stuck and the blades were tight. All I've heard about this auger is good things. Did I get a lemon? Any help will be greatly appreaciated. Looks like I might be taking a trip to big lake.

As fall as it getting stuck while drilling, were you putting a lot of pressure on the auger while it was drilling? Usually the lazer cuts great, and you don't have to put any pressure on it. Let it do all of the work. Check the pin on the auger that connects it to the motor. Have seen a couple people shear the pin before, not sure if that would cause it not to turn though?

I had the same problem with mine that I bought right before Christmas. I drilled less than 15 holes and then I heard a pop as well. Once that happened the auger wouldn't turn either.

I called Strikemaster and in my case they thought it was loose blades that were binding in the hole. They had me return the auger and I got a new one and that one has been wonderful.

Another issue I had was with the yellow compression button. Once depressed everytime I pulled the rip cord it would pop even if the engine didn't try to start. Now with the new one its also work great as well.

It sounds like you had a bummer auger like I did but I'm happy with my replacement one now. It talk to Strikemaster and where you bought it.

It needs to open in order for the engine to start. It makes the cord easier to pull. I always stop mine from running by pushing the yellow button in per the recommendation from Strikemaster to shut it off that way.

As others have stated, give Strikemaster a call and they'll take care of you. Good Luck!
