I haven't riden any trails up the Shore. We have a cabin out of Grand Marais and I ride some back forest rds. All I evere seem to use the wheeler for is work around the cabin and ice fishing.

Would love to get out up there with some others. We will be headed up most weekends starting late Aug thru Nov.

Wow - I just finished reading all the BIOS 46 pages zoweeeeeeee!

Tami - ATV riding great time, we will have to hit the trails this fall.

Hope thanks for the welcome also.

I think it would be fun to meet some other women in this site that like to fish. My husband is normally my fishing and outdoor partner, but if any women want to learn how to clean fish, bait hooks, tie knots, load/unload boats, etc. I can help. I can be a patient teacher. When I was 8, I was already a fishing finatic, my dad said if you are going to fish with your brothers and I you have to learn to bait your own hooks, tie your own knots, take your own fish off and clean your own fish. So I did. Cleaning fish is easy, especially if the knife is sharp! Once you learn how, it is like riding a bike, piece of cake!

I took my husbands friends two teenage girls Walleye fishing on memorial weekend this year, just the 3 of us in my boat, had a blast caught lots of fish (eyes), in fact we were fortunate enough to get our 3 person limit (spring will do that for ya on Walleyes). But I spent more time retieing, rebaiting, netting fish, fixing a reel, fixing several backlashes, etc., then fishing myself, but the two teenage girls were having a blast, so it was really fun to see them catch fish. Was one of my best days on the water. I think they are now "hooked" on fishing.

By the end of the day one wasn't afraid to put her own leech on and they both now know how to tie their own hooks, and how to cast an openface reel, how to hold an openface reel/rod which they held rightside up when I first handed them a rod in the boat, I laughed and smiled. Now they know. Bait casting reels and zebco 33's and snoopy reels (like they were used to) go up and openface reels down!

I have their HSOforum bookmarked but the group meets down in the cities so I probably wouldn't be able to be a very active member. Have you been to their site? These ladies know how to have fun in a boat!

Heidi, I fixed your pic but photobucket is being cranky this morning! They sometimes have issues! You're up and running now! Nice fish! My b-i-law fishes L. Superior sometimes but not hardcore. He fishes only occasionally.

Hi Peachy and Patti, Tom and Sandman,

Thanks for the nice replies.

Patti thanks for the info about WAM. That looks like a fun 1 day event.

Lisa thanks for fixing the pictures! You do a great job on this forum, we will have to get out and do some fishing sometime, as you are in Carlton and I am in Duluth, not far apart.

Tom - we actually have a Great Lakes boat that we keep at Salmon Harbor Marina in Kewaunee on dock E for the summer, husabnd is fishing the KD Salmon derby this weekend as I type. I normally go with, but took this weekend off.

Kewaunee is a great small town. The fishing on Lake Michigan this year has been out of whack though, alot of cold water and alot of spotty and slow fishing throughout the summer, usuually July on Lake Michigan is Prime time for Kings. They got 12 yesterday a.m., which was pretty good, 10 Kings, 1 Coho and 1 Rainbow, with several being 4 year old Kings but this mornings was much slower bite. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Going Walleye fishing (trolling) tomorrow a.m. on Lake Superior with a friend, hopefully they nibble!

Welcome Jari,

Been reading your posts in the outdoor forum and agree with most of what you say. Where are you in St. Paul? I'm by lake Phalen. Maybe we should hook up and get some fish sometime.

Sounds good, especially when my motors broken, like now. I live near the menards on university, prior and university ...

Lisa & Reelemin,

Thank you both for the warm welcome!

Ebiz,

Yes, I used to fish Long alot! I moved from New Brighton to Maple Grove. What was your buddies name that gave me that catfish? I think he had a crestliner. I remember many nights up in the creek chasing walleyes with you guys! Good times for sure!

Hey Doug,

Sorry, I haven't checked in here in a while and just say you replied. Yeah, I thought that was you. His name's Tim and yeah, he does have a Crestliner. Haven't been up there much this year, water's really low and combined with a ton of silt that seems to have came through the water's only about 2 inches deep right where we used to fish.

I am 49 year old retired Police Officer and love to ice fish. I am an ice fishing instructor for the Becoming an Outdoor Women program and am a Licensed Fishing Guide in WI. I host fishing clinics and outings for women and organize fishing gatherings year round. I've been with my partner for 14 years and I have a 30 year old daughter who lives on the east coast. I grew up in Northern Michigan and love the outdoors. My partner and I love to travel around in our RV looking for new fishing holes and out of the way places. I volunteer for Capitol K9's, a non profit group who raises money for Police K9 unit and also have 3 pet therapy dogs who work at a center for the disabled. Although I'm retired I'm busier than most of my friends who work and none of them would trade me schedules. I'm hoping to make some contacts with fishing women from MN and possibly have a WI vs MN Ice fishing contest. If you can get a MN team together e-mail me. [YouNeedAuthorization]@gmail.com
