Which flip over is best for 2-3 people?

I have a Clam Sleeper, but am thinking I would like to be more mobile with a sled-type flip over. After seeing some modifications that some guys have done, I really think it would be the best fit for me as I usually fish with my 10 yr old and the sleeper is just too bulky/heavy. I think I want a voyager with a trap link connection so I can connect to my sleeper, but I wonder if I will ever do that. I just fished with a buddy with an Eskimo flip over that was HUGE. This looks good to me too.

So... I am wondering what are some of the pros and cons of the larger flip style systems. I want to be mobile w/sled and be able to squeeze three adults in if needed. I also would like to modify it like some of the cool examples shared on this site.

Thanks and Happy New year

I got the voyager as a Christmas present and used it for 5 days straight and just love it... i was mostly by myself which is a bit hard to handle but it does work just takes a bit longer to set up and take down. then other times i was with my dada and that is really nice and easy for set up and take down.... if you have to hand pull it out it will not work with all the snow we have but is you have a snowmobile ATV or Truck to drive out with they are great... one thing you have to consider is it fitting in your truck and being able to take it in and out by yourself... the voyager is very big and your really need 2 guys to take it in and out of the truck.. the good news is it just barely fits in the tahoe... Whatever you choose happy buying!~

Eskimo Grand Caravan has really been a good portable for me over the past two years. Very durable and comfortable. But as with all larger sized flip-over style portable's, they're very heavy and you need an ATV or snowmobile to haul them out. The Grand Caravan is a perfect size for hauling in the back of a crew cab truck.

i too love the voyager.. works great for two people, plenty of room and easy to set up. it gets a little more difficult with one person to set up, but very manageable. also, it's not to bad to pull out as long as there isn't too much snow.

This is the 2nd year I've had my Voyager. I love the thing! Tons of room, easy to modify & still mobile enough for 1 person to load & pull by hand. I did a post earlier this year if you want some mod ideas. I have used it since the mods & absolutely would live in this house if could grin.gif

The best flip-over for 2-3 people would have to be a guide and a pro, or some combination like that. Two people in one flip-over is great plenty, even in the big ones.

Depending on your situation, this might not be a bad option, actually. With the "link" system on the Fish Traps, you can attach the houses together and still be fishing together. At the same time, you can be a bit more mobile by detaching the houses and spreading out to find a pattern/location.

I have an eskimo grand caravan for sale if you are interested. When I bought it 2 years ago I looked at all the houses and this one was by far the best for fishing 2-3 people, the sled is extra heavy duty and the thing sets up in 30 seconds. I since have bought a one man house for early ice and a wheel house for later ice.

The house is great condition, bench seat and/or two boat seats, tow bar and cover. Asking $400 and is located in Hibbing if interested.

i cant even stress how much i love my voyager, two people has plenty of room and three would be just fine. i have that thing loaded with just about everything anyone would ever need to ice fish and i can get it into the back of my half ton pickup by myself, without joking i'm only 135lb soaking wet. if you had a second person it's a piece of cake. i did have trouble walking it by myself in snow, but if you have a machine to tow it with your good to go

good luck out there everyone

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
