The problem w/ this whole thing is you can't tell when your vote "registered". Is that counter change really your vote, or someone elses?

I've been not voting (initally), and watching the counter, then I will vote again, and sometimes the counter doesn't change. frown.gif I've seen this occur 3X now since this thread came to life and I've been voting - but then I've been beating on them (w/ no selections) to watch the vote count.

Discovery must be monitoring something - to control the 12hr issue - my guess would be
IP address. I also found cookies on my system from Discovery - can't decipher whats in them, so the cookie could also be the "watch dog".

Problem is I'm thinking this may be a predetermined result. As you can see the crawler is increasing when it needs to . IE they will continue to increase the Crawler as that is what they want to make. But hey I have been wrong before.

JPZ: I had that same thought, but didn't want to say anything - cause I was wondering if I was being paranoid.

Yesterday the Crawler was taking votes like they were going out of style. About 3pm, Crawler was up in vote frequency (or hits) by 2:1, sometimes 3:1.

As far as net gain, if you look at the counts I posted Friday afternoon, and look at them now, we've only gained something in the range 3-400 votes.

But I'm still going to pound out those votes, cause I'd like to prove myself wrong.

Very true, but would those So. Cal boys want to come to the frigid north and stick pigs?? I think not! They'd rather sip frappicino's and crawl on rocks.

ice-fishing car 4185 20%

ive been voting as much as i can and it really hasn't been moving much.
it would be very interesting to make one of the ice fishing cars. set it to automatic pig stickin, and watch the slabs fly out the hole.

There are a ton of motorheads and rockjocks out there. But who wants to see another Jeep with huge deflated tires drive over rocks?? doesnt seem like to unique of a monstrosity to me, I thought the goal of the show was to make things that didnt exist....I counted a dozen or so rockcrawler trucks on my way to work this mornin!!

VOTE, VOTE, VOTE and then go home and VOTE again. I started a chain email this morning, I have thousands of email addresses, maybe I can help turn it around and save a good show from making a lame truck drive over rocks!!!

Ice fishin' fans....

I hate to say it, but the show (Monster Garage) has rigged the poll. What you have to do is the math....and think about the logistics and production schedules.

The Math:

If you look at my post in this thread, dated 2-7, at 1:47, you'll see some vote counts. At that time, the RC had 6095 vote lead (8508-2413). Right now, RC has 11600 vs
IFC's 5076, a differance of 6524 votes.

I've been watching the vote counts, at NO time since this thread started, has NET increase of votes for the IFC been more than about 1000, and most the time its been in the 3-400 range.

On 2-7, RC count was 8508, today its 11,600, the differance is 3092. IFC's count was 2413, today its 5076, or a differance of 2663. 2663 from 3092 is 429.

Sunday afternoon was very telling - the votes for the RC were coming in left and right. They (Discovery) have to keep it ahead.

Logistics:
Q: Where is Discovery Channel produced? A: California. And while there may be snow and ice in the Serria Nevada Mtns, its not like what we have - which is where ice fishing takes place.

Which is easier - going to the Mojave Desert, or up in the mountains - or even worse - doing a remote in some gosh awful place like flyover country? Where its cold too...<the wussies!>

Production Schedules:
The Rock Crawler will be the winner - cause its already built. Why? Cause they'd have had to been running this poll in the warm weather months, to have had the results, in time to schedule production for in the cold months, when there is ice and snow.

Add the fact that the desert and rocks are predictable - that is - they are there - they aren't subject to seasonal whims, at least not like ice and snow are (any one remember how late the ice came last winter?) - and how goofy this winter has been?

When the results are announced - it will be the rock crawler - there could very well be some comments like "gosh - our fans who enjoy ice fishing really pushed for the IFC", but it'll be camoflauge.

For them to be serious about the IFC and not having already built (or be building) the RC, they'd have to working 12-18 months out, and they ain't - heres the proof.

Quote - from Discovery's own page:

"Vote on which monster you'd like to see us build, and then watch for the resulting show to be aired some time in late spring."

It's sitting a shed somewhere. It was just a ruse.....

Lets keep this thing rockin'!! Vote when you get up and vote when you goto bed. Its hard to believe that we can't get 3000 people to vote twice a day and win this thing easily. It sure seems like its rigged. With all the votes we've cast, we're gaining very little ground. Please vote and tell some friends to vote also.

Survey OVER!!

Thank you for trying to participate in our survey. However, the survey has achieved its
desired number of completions. Thanks again for participating!

I e-mailed them today to express our concerns over the survey result, do you think these two events could be linked?

Hey, at least we could maybe get some local TV staition to cover it, all we need to do is inform a reporter about our ill fated effort to swing the vote and since we had no chance of winning, we decided to take it into our own hands. If we do this, we;ll have to do it right though, stay under a pre-determined budget, just like the show, etc, etc. Wonder if we could find any sponsors for something like this, actually, if we do this as a combined effort, we could get most of the stuff we need donated. We also need to have some knowlageable people involved- a hydrolics expert, good welders, an engineer, etc, etc. If we do this, it could be really fun. What do ya guys think? And when we get it done, we could drive it to all the FM ice events next year!
