work sucks
I bought a Big Buddy heater last year and ever since I have owned it the heater just shuts itself off for no apparent reason. I have tried both a bulk tank and 1 pound cylinders. Any ideas or do I have a bad unit? Thanks for the help.
0 Eric Wettschreck
Welcome to the wonderful word of Big Buddy heaters. It happens to about half of them out there.
0 slipperybob
Low oxygen? Low pressure?Just doesn't operate like one of those cast iron stove, keeps running until the LP is out...even some gas grills have low pressure probs.
0 GatorBait
Yeah, Low oxygen is probably your best bet. Check to see what you have for ventilation in the area you are heating and go from there. Also, I've read in other posts that guys using Coleman tanks are having less than problems than off brand 1 pounders. Not sure what size you are running though. 0 highcountry
Sounds like you may have a couple of problems! Make sure you are using the coleman 1 lbs cylinders when using bottled gas. Also if you are using bigger cylinders with hose, make sure you install a FILTER as re-fillable tanks can have alot of contaminents in them. The filters should be replaced yearly!Good Luck and hope this helps. Highcountry
0 EBass
That sucks - no issues here ever with my Big Buddy and I run a on 20lb tank with NO filter ever. I've had it 3 years now, knock on laminate covered particle board:)
0 anyfishwilldo
I'm in the same boat as EBASS. Three years and zero probs. I have never even screwed a 1 lb tank on it. My only knock on it is the cheesy plastic, that is all busted on it from bouncing around in the HSOList.
0 Jim Almquist
I sent mine back with the recall and that one never gave me any problems and the brand new replacement shuts off for no reason. Someone posted about a mod because of it not being level but I could not find anything inside that looked like a switch. I just wait 5 min. and light again but it is a pain during prime time. 0 pvoll332
I had the same problem emailed them and gave them the serial number and they told me to call tech support and then would send a new one.
0 WTN4ICE
I also had a lot of these problems, shutting off, would only run on high.If you are using a bulk tank get the regulated quick connect hose.No problems since I switched to this.
